2017 Kick-Off Event at the Hyatt Regency-Sarasota Draws Big Supportive Crowd

Posted by on May 5, 2017

Last night’s 2017 Sarasota Tarpon Tournament Kick-Off event at the Hyatt Regency-Sarasota drew a big supportive crowd and packed the room, with many in attendance first-time attendees. Event organizers were overwhelmed by the show of support from the community. The annual banquet, this year celebrating the tournament’s 87th consecutive year of competition, kicked into gear promptly at 7 p.m. with Event Chairman Mason Tush giving opening remarks.

Bryan Kelly, acting as master of ceremonies, continued with a review of the tournament rules and a shout out to all the 2017 Tournament’s many sponsors. Bryan also voiced special thanks to the 2017 Presenting Sponsors, Cannons Marina, Conley Buick, and Tom Kane Construction Inc. The committee also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Hyatt Regency-Sarasota who once again this year acted as the Tournament’s Hosting Sponsor.

As usual, there was an incredible selection of fishing related items, too many to mention here, donated for this year’s charity raffle which was conducted throughout the evening by Bryan Kelly to a boisterous crowd.

Monies raised from the evening’s raffles and the Tournament overall will, as usual, be donated to Charity. Included new this year to the list of charities, the Coastal Conservation Association.

The Tarpon Tournament fishing begins this Saturday, May 6th and will continue for the next 5 weeks.
